Key Highlights : Enhanced Learning & Support
This program is designed to provide comprehensive training and sustained support beyond the two-day wet lab.
- World-Renowned Faculty for One-on-One Training : Trainees will receive personalised, focused instruction from world-renowned MIGS surgeons. This thorough training ensures a low instructor-to-trainee ratio, maximising hands-on time and enabling prompt, personalised feedback on surgical technique and troubleshooting for performing all three of the most popular MIGS procedures: Istent, KDB, and BANG.
- Complimentary Intraoperative Gonio Lens : Each trainee will receive their own free Intraoperative Gonio Lens. This valuable tool ensures you can immediately implement the angle visualisation techniques mastered in the wet lab into your clinical practice.
- Pre-Course Online Induction Webinar : The training commences with an online induction webinar scheduled to start 1 week before the physical meeting. This initial session will cover foundational knowledge, anatomy refreshers, and device principles, ensuring all participants arrive prepared and ready to maximise their hands-on wet lab experience.
- Focused MIGS Expert Support Group (WhatsApp) : Trainees gain exclusive access to a closed WhatsApp group with the experts. This dedicated channel allows for continued discussion, case-sharing, and rapid peer-to-expert advice, facilitating your initial surgical journey post-course.
- Dedicated On-Site Technical Assistance : On-site support by the technical team will be available at the location of your practice session. This ensures all equipment (microscopes, gonio lenses, and devices) functions optimally, minimising downtime and ensuring a seamless learning experience.
Program and Session Details
MIGS represents a paradigm shift in glaucoma management, offering safer, less invasive procedures with rapid recovery profiles, typically targeting mild-to-moderate disease. This course focuses on mastering critical angle-based procedures and the ab-interno filtration approach.
Day 1 : 24th January 2026
Session 1 : MASTERING INTRAOP GONIOSCOPY
Successful angle-based MIGS hinges on the surgeon's ability to clearly and stably visualise the anterior chamber angle and its fine anatomical landmarks during surgery. Intraoperative Gonioscopy involves techniques such as microscope tilting, patient head positioning, and the use of specialised goniolenses and viscoelastics to gain an optimal view of the Trabecular Meshwork (TM) and Schlemm’s canal.
Session 2 : iStent (Trabecular Bypass Stenting)
The iStent platform involves the micro-bypass of the dysfunctional Trabecular Meshwork using a small, titanium stent. Trainees will focus on precision targeting, controlled insertion, and verification of proper stent placement.
Day 2 : 25th January 2026
Session 1 : Kahook Dual Blade (KDB) Goniotomy
The Kahook Dual Blade (KDB) facilitates an ab-interno approach to goniotomy, performing a targeted, minimally traumatic excision of a segment of the Trabecular Meshwork. Unlike simple incision, the dual blades remove a sliver of tissue, providing a scaffold-free opening directly into Schlemm’s canal.
Session 2 : BANG (Bent Ab-interno Needle Goniotomy)
BANG (Bent Ab-interno Needle Goniotomy) is an excisional goniotomy technique that utilises a specially bent hypodermic needle (e.g., 25G or 26G) to physically strip and remove a portion of the Trabecular Meshwork. The focus is on the precise bending and handling of the needle to achieve a controlled and complete excision.
